Program Preview Day Showcase and Arts Faire is dedicated to bringing quality arts programming to support and enrich school curriculum for young audiences of Orange County.  It provides artists with a unique opportunity to demonstrate and inform the schools in Orange County about their programs.  This Information Packet provides you with the information necessary to participate in this annual event.

General Artist Information
  • This showcase is open to all visual, performing, variety and demonstration artists who have programs designed for schools and meet California Educational Standards
  • New artists must meet requirements in the “New Artists” section to participate in the showcase.
  • Directories will be created and mailed out to all the public and private schools in Orange County from the Department of Education.
  • Showcasing artists will be posted online at ProgramPreviewDay.com for year-round viewing and direct linkage.
  • The Arts Faire has limited table space, floor space and electrical accessibility.  Participation will be available on a first come, first paid basis.  If you wish floor space or electricity, please call Dream Shapers at (714) 771-1981 or email us at info@dreamshapers.org for availability and reservation.  See Arts Faire information for space size and fees. Tables and floor space will  be assigned on the following criteria:
    • First, reserved, first  paid
    • Artists who are showcasing or have showcased in the past
    • If space allows, artists who are part of the directory and provide programming to schools, but have not auditioned or not been accepted to showcase
  • NEW FOR 2010 ARTS FAIRE.  Arts Faire participation requires that artists arrive before 8:30am for their assigned table space and stay until 1:30pm--the close of the event.  We will begin assigning table space for artists who have not arrived by 9:00am to artists who do not have table space through a lottery.  No refunds for late or no shows.
  • For reserving advertising in the 2010 directory on the Outside Back Page, Inside Front Pages or Inside Back Pages, please call Dream Shapers at (714) 771-1981  or email info@dreamshapers.org for availability.
  • Artists who cannot attend or do not get a table assignment may send in literature to be put out on a General Artist display table. 
  • Only artists who participate in the Directory will be able to attend the event.
  • Showcase time slots will be given out to:
    • artists who did not get the opportunity to showcase last year
    • new artists who auditioned and were accepted
    • artists who showcased last year, but fills a need for the type of program/genre to round out this year’s showcase.
  • Each artist will have 5-7 minutes (more on exact time to follow) to set up and perform their demonstration.  Artists must be back stage, checked in with the stage manager 30 minutes prior to their performance time.
  • Fees for the showcase fund:
    • Website maintenance
    • Directory creation and distribution
    • Publicity
    • Management
    • Additional year round publicity
    • Day of event fee

Artist Guidelines

  1. Payment in full is due when submitting your application.  Please make all checks payable and mailed to: Dream Shapers, P.O. Box 3831, Orange, CA 92857 . Credit Card payments (include a $5.00 fee) are called into our office at: (714) 771-1981.
  2. A Showcase Arts Panel will reserve the right to determine the eligibility of all artists, new and returning.  Auditions for all artists may be required.
  3. Organizations and agents can purchase tables to represent their entire organization and directory listings can be made for an entire organization.   There are also discounts available for multi-submissions.  Email info@dreamshapers.org for more information.
  4. Displays must fit on your designated table space (1/2 of an 8’ table).  No large balloons, loud music or sounds or floor displays that would interfere with other exhibitors are allowed.
  5. No live performance demonstrations will be held in the exhibit hall.
  6. Isles will be kept open for attendees to freely roam the conference hall.
    Artists will be required to:
    • Stay behind their tables. 
    • Stay within a designated area of their booth
    • Refrain from marketing themselves in the isles, halls or demonstration room.
  7. Professionalism and courtesy will be required of all artists.
  8. No selling of products is allowed.
  9. All Showcase artists will be rated by a Showcase Arts Panel for quality and content of their demonstration.  If any demonstration is deemed to be lacking, the artist will be required to audition before future Showcase appearances.
  10. All efforts will be made to provide correct and complete information; however, no refunds will be given based on inaccurate listings.  Review of your Directory listing will be available at www.programpreviewday.com and ample time will be given to notify us of mistakes.

Artist Application Information

Returning Artists

Artists and organizations who have demonstrated at Program Preview Day in the past three years can apply for a Showcase slot.  Our NEW APPLICATION FEATURE allows artists who advertised in the 2009 Directory to use last year’s contact information, program information, pricing information by simply selecting a box and not fill out all the information. 

New Artists

  • New artists who have not demonstrated at Program Preview Day must:
    • Fill out the application.
    • Provide sufficient background information
    • Submit a video demonstration or request to attend the April audition before final acceptance into the Showcase.
    • If you are not accepted to demonstrate, your payment less the Directory and advertising (should you choose to take out advertising) fees will be returned.
    • All presentations should reflect the use of California State Standards.  This will greatly enhance your presentation.  If you are not aware of these Standards, they are available online at http://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/index.asp
  • New artists must additionally provide:
      • Information that you are part of a larger arts organization (i.e. the OC Performing Arts Center or The Los Angeles Music Center, etc.) or provide three references of your work in the past year. Program Preview Day may still request additional submissions and require you to audition.
      • You must either submit a video/DVD demonstration by 4/1/09.  Mail to Dream Shapers, P.O. Box 3831, Orange, CA 92857.
      • Or, if you do not have a video/DVD demonstration, arrange to participate in our audition held on 4/14 at the OC Department of Education.  There you will demonstrate your 5-7 minute Showcase presentation and provide samples of any supplemental information you provide to schools.
